Be sure to send out your invitations at least 2 weeks before the party date.
Making over the top designs is a plus for Hat Decorating Parties. Most items can be found at your local craft store. Look for large designs to add to your hats for extra fun. Make sure that if you have a select theme for your party, that you stick to that theme.

- Large Foam Shapes and Characters - these can be found in large buckets at stores like Michaels in circles, squares, birds, butterflies etc.
- Fake Birds
- Large Artificial Flowers
- Leaves
- Miniature dolls and doll houses
- Ribbon
- Tulle
- Beads
- Glitter
- Feathers
- Yarn (comes in rainbow colors etc.)
- Color Tissue Paper

- Shapes (good for toddler size & foam shapes can be glued on with elmers)

- Ladies Tea (tea party with fancy decorated hats, need feathers, look for fake pearl necklaces at party stores)
- 60s theme (you can decorate in wild looks, glitter, beads, color markers, foam circles to make smiley faces they come in all sizes in the container etc.)
The best thing we can suggest is walking around the craft store with the items items listed above in mind. You will be able to find more ideas by doing so as well as get a complete idea for assembling.
Most of these items use glue sticks to assemble and keep their shape. If children will be decorating, make sure to get a low heat glue gun and help children who are too young to work the guns themselves.
I would also suggest making some designs ahead of time for practice to have out for the kids to view.
Some Shapes:
- Cone Hats require twisting a paper into a cone.
- Top Hat Requires Cutting a round circle from construction paper or poster board with a hole in the middle for heads, also one rectangle shape to twist into the round part of the stove top portion followed by a round cut piece for the very top.
