Decoration Ideas

Decorating for this type of theme is easier than some. The Little Mermaid offers you a selection from mermaids to underwater creatures.

• Color Matching: if you can't get The Little Mermaid plates, cups and napkins, then matching colors is a great way to start. Generic color partyware is now available just about anywhere. Matching colors for The LIttle Mermaid would be blues, reds/oranges and purples.
• Decorate the walls with any poster you might have. You can also look for The Little Mermaid pictures on the internet through google images and print them to place on the wall.
• Balloons are always a great filler with a low cost. I would suggest purchasing a couple mylar balloons from the local balloon shop and putting them by the table, then purchase a bag of colorful balloons and place them around the room taped to the wall.
• Streamers fill the room. Again, when low on cash, the streamers in matching colors from blues to reds twisted together would look great. I suggest red and white or blue and white.

Party Activities

• Pin the bow on the Little Mermaid is a great game to play. What you need is posterboard and markers, crayons or colored pencils and someone who can draw. If the design is too hard, I suggest drawing a large, but easy fish with a bow in it's hair.

• The Little Mermaid scavenger hunt. Around the house or outside, you can place toys all around, easily hidden and make a questionaire for the kids to follow like: What color is Ariel's hair, once they say red, the clue is: hair is red, find me under the bed etc.
• Outdoor easy activities are fun such as egg spoon races, watter balloon toss, musical chairs, balloon pop etc. remember when you were a kid and some ideas may flow!
• Color placemats, with posterboard, you can draw pictures or have kids draw pictures to make their own place mats.
• Make fish shaped cookies, look for fish shaped cookie cutters and let kids decorate with sprinkles and frosting.

 

Movies and Music

- For movies, i would suggest The Little Mermaid, or any other under water fun cartoon movie. Music selections would be the Beach Boys.

Little Mermaid Food and Cake Ideas

- Use your Little Mermaid toys as cake toppers.

- Take a picture to your local store and have them make an edible cake topper.

- Rice Crispy Treats, cut them into fish shapes, you can use frosting to decorate.

- Go Fishes crackers

- Fish shaped cookies

- Pizza with toppings decorated to make a fish shape

- candy of any sort is always a kid favorite.

 

Don't Forget The Camera

- I can't stress this enough. Once the years go by, you want the memories, so be sure to have the battery charged and pictures ready to be taken.
