Themes
For every party a theme
must arise. For some it is easy like holidays,
but for other times when you feel the students earned
a great reward, sometimes a theme must be created.
I remember as a student in the 2nd grade we had
oriental night. Parents came with the kids, we
all sat on the floor and ate rice with chopsticks, egg
rolls etc. It was very fun. Here is a nice
list of themes to include in your parties:
1. Oriental Theme - Chinese food, chopsticks and
games.
2. Sports Theme -
Around Super Bowl, a great theme.
3. Wizard Theme -
Magical time, everyone has an A for today etc.
4. Smarty Pants Party -
teacher wears fake round glasses and white wig and
children get blue ribbons to wear on their shirts and
have fun learning games against each other by teams.
Streamers - Fun and
bright colors bring excitement to every room.
Streamers are items we always recommend as you can get
so many feet worth for under $1. Decorate the
room with colors that fit the theme and go from corner
to corner. It's quick to decorate, fun to look
at and the kids will enjoy.
Grade School
Parties:
Crafts - With
this age, crafts are very important for children.
Not only can they bring wonderful creativity skills,
but they can also add loads of fun for the children.
The crafts we have shown above are from one of our
partners, be sure to visit and see all the activities
they offer.
Partyware - With
kids this age, coloring your own plates would be added
fun. Bring in white paper plates and have them
decorate one to keep and one to eat on. Make
sure only the bottom is decorated for the one they eat
on, the other they can bring home.
Games - Learning
activities in groups is fun to do. Make sure
they have one of the smarter kids in every group so
that children who are smart but not as quick won't
feel left out in the game races. I have actually
seen teachers put the smart ones in one group while
the rest of us average kids were in the others and of
course, we always lost.
Dress Up - It is
always fun when a teacher dresses the theme for the
day.
Middle School:
Middle school children
still like activities and games, but prefer not to
dress up, do silly little crafts etc. So making
it adult like with a child flair is something all
parties need. We suggest themes that offer food
in them, as teens love to eat. So, making it
theme after foodnetwork TV shows, chinese culture day
or even football half time munchies is a great way to
have fun.
Games - we suggest
still playing educational games in teams as this is
always a fun way to learn.
Decorations - still
decorate the room as it makes them smile the moment
they come in knowing something fun will happen.
High School:
High School is when
young adults want a child side to them, kind of
opposite of a Jr. high kid. Bring in the games
and activities like color sheets, maps etc. Lots
of foods and fun activity games.
No matter what grade
you are throwing a party for, your school's class will
be happy all day.
